  • the coat represents dazai's projected persona: abusive mafia executive who will kill with no remorse. akutagawa is nothing like this, not truly, but he wants nothing more than dazai's praise, so he forces himself to try and become someone he's not. he continues the cycle of abuse because he is miserable, but he's in too deep to go back now.
• chuuya's hat is the most in-depth discussion we get: it once belonged to verlaine, the inside is embroidered with code that allows him to have better control over his ability
• before atsushi joined the ADA he wore torn, colourless clothing (he viewed himself as a nobody who would never make a change in the world)
  • once he joined the ADA he was gifted an amalgamation of clothes from other members: he is somebody because they believe in him
• yosano's butterfly hairclip as a direct correlation to her ability
• nikolai as a chess piece for both sides
• sigma as everything and nothing
• dazais bandages = hurt that is healing
• kenji = nonthreatening, friendly, naive
• atsushi and akutagawa wore grey before they were ‘adopted’ into their respective groups
